Folds I, ongoing since 2015
Direct exposure on analogue
photo paper, unique pieces
(selection)
In the course of creating "Folds I", another approach to the compositional-aesthetic interaction between exposure and fold shapes developed. After being influenced by the light source from different positions, Djourina unfolds the paper back to its flat rectangular state.
The real folds remain inscribed in the surface structure as a landscape of lines, but create spatial irritation through their self-representation in the shadows they often casted during the exposure. As a result, the visual impression constantly fluctuates between an existing edge or its formal equivalent.
